RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS AT
THE MITTELEUROPA FOUNDATION

The Mitteleuropa Foundation offers a number of posts for Research Fellows and PhD students. The posts will be available for one to six months, starting from mid-September 2003 (earlier or slightly later dates can be arranged).

The successful a?licants will work either with Liliana Albertazzi (natural semiosis and related fields) or with Roberto Poli (ontology and related fields).

Applicants should have experience in at least one of the following areas:

Natural semiosis:

  • Cognitive and linguistic schemes
  • Visual and acoustic perception
  • Gestalt theory
  • Design

Ontology:

  • Wholes and their parts
  • Levels of reality
  • Ontology of the sport or the work of art
  • Semantic web

Applicants should send a CV, and a statement outlining the relevance of their background to either the "natural semiosis" or "ontology" projects. Applications for periods of more than 4 weeks should contain a detailed description of the research project to be developed during the applicant's stay at the Foundation. Informal enquiries are welcome.

The Foundation offers the usual facilities (work station, computer, library, etc). Board and lodging can also be arranged. Depending on the relevance of the project, the length of the stay, and the lack of adequate third-party support, a bursary may be provided as well.

Applications will be assessed by a commission composed of Edgar Morscher, Liliana Albertazzi and Roberto Poli.
