Getting to Bolzano

There is a regional airport in Bolzano with a limited number of destinations served, i. e. Frankfurt, Innsbruck and Rome being the main destinations. The nearest 'large' airport is Verona which is about 140 km to the south of Bolzano, which offers a larger choice of destinations. After that the choice is Milan or Venice, both are about the same distance from Bolzano, about 300 km to the south.

Bus links from the airports to the railway stations are frequent, usually once every 20 minutes, Milan's Malpensa airport is an hours journey to the station, whereas at Verona it takes only about 15 minutes. Verona, Milan and Venice are linked to Bolzano by a reasonably frequent rail link, as Bolzano is close to the Austrian border and therefore the main transport route to central Europe by road and rail.
